An Unexpected Adventure

We stepped out of the tropical atmosphere of Margaritaville Cafe Orlando and into the Florida heat.  To be truthful, the two rounds of margaritas were working their magic.  We breathed in deep and surveyed the excitement of City Walk.  “Wanna go to Islands of Adventure and buy an annual pass?”, he asked.  I called my husband’s bluff.

We took advantage of a special discount, and soon held two precious pieces of paper in our palms.  Many times we had walked up to the closed gates of this park during a night out at City Walk.  Now, for the first time in years, we were actually walking in.  I literally skipped and squealed.

I will not post a play by play as this is sure to be the first of many posts about Universal Orlando.  I will simply say this, we had an awesome evening!  The team members were fantastic, especially in Seuss Landing.  After doing a lap of Islands of Adventure, we walked over to Universal Studios.  I was very tempted to wait in the 60 minute line for Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem, but that’s the beauty of now being annual passholders, we can come back when it is not busy. Husband got to ride all three big coasters and I got to expand my horizons for thisfloridalife.  I do not do thrill rides by any stretch of the imagination, but I am looking forward to getting reacquainted with Universal Orlando’s theme parks.

FINALLY get to go on this little ride (it was supposed to be part of opening day but it took about 6 years to actually open)
FINALLY got to see Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Dueling Dragons…. I mean Dragon Challenge queue
Based on trying the frozen butter beer, I prefer the adult stuff 🙂

  1. We adore Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. Harry Potter has some of the most amazing theming I’ve ever seen. We do prefer the Pumpkin Juice to Butter Beer (the cashier could not believe that we didn’t like the Butter Beer!).

P.S. I don’t do the “high thrill rides” either. You’ll never catch me on the Hulk. But I do love me some Spiderman and Wizarding World of HP. I can’t wait to try out Minion Mayhem. It was not quite open when we were there back in May. My husband is still sulking about no more Jaws.
