It totally goes against my philosophy of how World Showcase at Epcot should be experienced. However, I know many people especially Floridians, wish it was easier to experience the Food and Wine Festival on the go. Wish granted.
This year marks the debut of two small features that for many festival goers will make conquering the world (World Showcase that is) a lot easier.
First, the food boat. Made of what I assume is recycled materials, this little brown boat is used to serve food that does not require utensils. Boats like this have been used in the past, but no where near the amount that are being used this year. The ability to grab your grub, walk, and eat is made much easier with the use of these little boats.
Second, is a great item for purchase. It is a hand-held mini tray with a wine glass holder. So thankful! This will make Food and Wine Festival life so much easier. This may seem like a simple little enhancement, but at least for people like me it will make the experience a lot better. On my visit to the festival preview I was not able to make it to the merchandise location that sells them, but it will definitely be in my possession the next time I visit the festival.
If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em
It seems as though Disney is recognizing the party, social atmosphere that grows bigger with every festival. For Floridians and frequent visitors, Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival is a reason to gather with groups of friends, socialize, and eat & drink around the world. Anyone wanting to meet Disney Cast Members or catch up on the latest Cast Member gossip need only look around. It is a huge Cast Member tradition to gather with co-workers and venture around the world. These new little enhancements will make it easier to stay on the go with your social gaggle. Plus there are new light-up cups and themed merchandise that highlights the “drinking around the world” tradition.
I do love gathering with friends many times during the festival’s duration. However, my favorite way to enjoy the festival is slowly. I believe in taking your time. If I am sampling the flavors of Japan, Italy, etc. I much prefer to take in the sight and sounds of that particular region as well. So as you head out to enjoy the fabulous flavors of the Epcot Food and Wine Festival, be sure to take a few moments to slow down and savor.

I am so excited about these mini-enhancements. Well, not so much the boat thingies. The wine glass holder! Last time we were at Epcot Food and Wine Fest we actually rested our glasses on garbage cans and found ourselves dismayed often when all the garbage cans were already taken! This will help A LOT!
