Main Event bowls us over at Pointe Orlando

It’s hard to believe that I have been visiting Pointe Orlando for about fifteen years now. This shopping and dining complex has evolved over the years and perhaps has some more changes to go through. However, the collection of restaurants is top notch and a great selection for its main clientelle: those that are in the Orlando area because of the Orlando Orange County Convention Center. But, there is a new game in town that is set to bowl over anyone who walks through its doors: Main Event.

Main Event Orlando

Now officially open, Main Event is an ideal place to have fun with friends, family, and colleagues. When talking about my visit I’ve described Main Event as Splitsville meets Dave & Busters. It seems bowling has returned as a favorite past time, but this time simple  bowling alleys give way to energetic establishments with creative cocktails and an ample food menu.

Main Event takes such a concept and adds in a well stocked, high energy arcade, throws in some pool tables with sumptuous leather lounge chairs, and tops it all off with an overhead ropes course. Oh! And this Main Event location at Pointe Orlando is the first to offer V Play Reality, the first U.S. free-roam, multi-player virtual reality game (book V Play online now).

The Arcade

Ok so full disclosure… the arcade was so much fun it’s how I spent the entire night of my visit. There is such a great variety of games. Classics like air hockey and ski ball add a touch of nostalgia. A substantial collection of racing games, including Mario Kart, offer some friendly competition. A variety of shooter games add thrills, with a touch of I love the 90’s with games like Alien, Terminator, and Jurassic Park.

Food and Drink

I visited Main Event during a press event, therefore, we did not experience the regular dining, but rather sampled some of the highlights of the menu. Everything I nibbled upon was flavorful and delicious, great sustenance for a night of fun.

There is a full food menu, lots of options. And for the adults in the crowd, or just overgrown kids, there is a full bar. Or, if you’re in more of a grab and go kind of mood there is a counter service option amid the excitement of the arcade.

Pool, Bowling, and Virtual Reality

The draw of the arcade couldn’t pull us away, so my date and I did not get to experience the bowling or pool tables during our visit. We did sign up for virtual reality experience, however there was a mix up and when we returned at our assigned time slot we couldn’t be accommodated. Oh well, we understand press events can lead to some operational errors. I’m sure we’ll be back to give it a try ourselves.
