For most Florida Residents, especially those of the Central Florida variety, Autumn is the time to enjoy some great events. Of course, there are the huge staples of Epcot Food and Wine Festival, Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights, and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. However, there are three “real” Florida events that are on my must-do list for the Fall.
Orange Ave. Pumpkin Fest
If I had to vote on the best street in the Orlando area, Orange Ave would be my pick. During a Sunday morning brunch my friends and I came across a few signs that caught our eyes. They felt almost like they belonged in a small town. They advertised Pumpkin Fest on Orange Ave taking place on October 5, 2012 from 6-9pm.
The tent card on our table at White Wolf Cafe (the scene of our brunch) indicated that there would be local vendors, crafts, and even Fall themed drinks like a pumpkin-tini. I am most certainly intrigued and although I know I will be getting there late, thankyouverymuch I-4 rush hour on a Friday night, this is definitely on my must-do list.
Orange Blossom Cannonball – The Great Pumpkin Limited
Three guesses as to what the Orange Blossom Cannonball actually is…. no cheating, don’t Google it! Sounds like a specialty drink or craft beer, right? It is actually a steam train in the Northern Central Florida area, Tavares to be exact. This train does voyages throughout the week, and even better they do seasonal events. The Great Pumpkin Limited is an hour journey onboard the steam train and into a pumpkin patch. The cost is fairly affordable at $25 for adults and $20 for kids ages 3-12. More info can be found here.
Central Florida Zoo Bash
This family-friendly event offers trick-or-treating in one of the most unique venues around. I just love the history and community-oriented feel of the Central Florida Zoo. This event takes place on the last two weekends of October (20, 21 & 27, 28). I will either be in attendance or I hope to be able to volunteer for them during this and other events. Here is their events page.
I have not been to any of these events before and am looking forward to experiencing them. If you have ever experienced any of these events feel free to share your thoughts. Are there any other local Orlando area Fall events that you are looking forward to?

Ahh… I love the Central Florida Zoo, but I’ve never been to their Holloween Bash! Lowry Park does a “Zoo Boo” and that’s always a blast!
If time allows I may have to add this to the list. It has been way too long since I have been there.
