Orlando is home to many delightful antique shops. From the historic 1st Street in Downtown Sanford, FL to one of the best streets in all of Orlando: Orange Avenue, antique treasures are pretty easy to find. But, there’s one place that brings in all together: Adjectives Market.
In the Central Florida suburb of Altamonte Sprngs, FL, you will find lots of new developments, tons of restaurants, and pretty neighborhood parks. The main strip of State Road 436 / Altamonte Drive is home to a plethora of chain stores and restaurants. However, if you look close enough you will find lovely, independent establishments, and Adjectives Market is one of the shining stars. All your antique, retro needs will be met by setting foot inside this two story market.
Adjectives brings together antique collectors and craftspeople from different corners of the country, but mostly Florida, under one roof. The two story building houses individual nooks where the treasures of each collector are displayed. Each nook is marked by a sign fitting the character of the collector. There is far more here than old furniture. Rather you will find decorative flourishes, beloved toys, artwork, crafts, postcards, beautiful retro clothing, and more. Setting foot inside is an immediate feast for the eyes.
Upon my first visit I immediately found a treasure that has become a cherished piece of furniture in my home. In fact it is now my writing place. I was so overjoyed about this table that I had to write about it, and the search for its original home continues. I am referring to the dining table from a Margaritaville Cafe. It is without a doubt from one of the worldwide Margaritaville Cafes, it is just a matter of which one.
All of the staff members at Adjectives are super friendly. Anytime I visit I am greeted by their warm smiling faces ready to help navigate the sea of evocative riches. I do enjoy it there. Although, it can be quite dangerous… I have yet to leave the place empty handed.
